Audrey on TCM Summer under the Stars

July 13, 2009   under: audrey news   100 words

Every year during the month of August, TCM devotes on day to each classic star. This year, Audrey will be featured on August 11.

I’m personally really excited for this month. They’ve got a few Audrey movies that I haven’t seen yet(not even Netflix’s has Green Mansions on DVD!) And for new Audrey fans, they’ve really picked a good list. I’m really glad they didn’t pick all of Audrey’s better known films. Funny Face Captures

July 3, 2009   under: Gallery, Site News, funny face   254 words

I’ve replaced all the Funny Face captures with better quality images. Like the rest of the re-uploads, there’s about 200 or so less images this time around. But hey, who want’s to look through pages upon pages of them same images?

So I’ve been working on updating the style archive lately. I probably shouldn’t post what I’m about to do, seeing as I’m terrible at updating but oh well. I’m working on adding a Dress Like Audrey section of the site. Of course the thing I’m trying to do is make it to where I can find similar Audrey outfits, except at an afordable price. Because what’s the point of being able to dress like Audrey if you break the bank, amirite? For a quick sneek peak, you can view a style guide I already have made HERE

Sabrina re-make killed Ormonds career?

June 29, 2009   under: audrey news, sabrina   289 words

Julia Ormond made an auspicious debut as an actress in the landmark 1989 British miniseries Traffik, on which the Oscar-wining Steven Soderbergh film was later based, playing the drug-addicted daughter of a member of Parliament. By 1994, Ormond was being touted as the next Audrey Hepburn, with her old school glamour and classically-trained acting chops, earned at London’s prestigious Webber-Douglas Academy of Dramatic Arts. High-profile turns in big studio pictures like Legends of the Fall and First Knight suddenly propelled the young, working actress into superstar status, with all the baggage that accompanies that much sought-after, and ultimately regrettable moniker.

With her turn in Sydney Pollack’s ill-fated remake of Billy Wilder’s classic Sabrina, in 1995, it all seemed to turn 180 degrees for Ormond, who suddenly found herself excoriated by the press that had built her up the year before. Full Article

My thoughts: I think Julia is a good actress. I don’t think she made a very great Sabrina, however. When she returned from Paris you saw that she went from an ugly duckling into a swan, but she always seemed uncomfortable. She never returned with the confidence Sabrina should have had. Harrison and Greg were great as the Larrabee brothers. You could really see Linus falling for Julia, against his better judgement, but you never got that with Sabrina. Thats just my opinion though. I did like the pacing of this movie better than the original. In a lot of old Hollywood films, characters are able to fall in love in the matter of days. I also feel the supporting characters (Elizabeth, Maude and Oliver Larrabee) were given a much better backstory.

New Layout & More Screencaps

June 26, 2009   under: Gallery, Site News, robin and marian   237 words

As you can see, we have a new layout up! I don’t know why it took me so long to get it up. I’ve had it saved on my comp for months. My laziness, I guess. Well, it was made by the awesome Rodrigo from IM Designs. Sorry it took so long to change!

I’ve added some screencaptures from Audrey’s 1976 comeback film, Robin and Marian. But I’m a screw up guys (what else is new? lol) and i accidentally deleted the Roman Holiday caps! I know. But I was going to replace those sometime soon anyways. As for the film, I thought Audrey and Sean Connery worked amazingly well together. But this was more of a Robin/Sean film above anything else.

Charade Re Uploads

June 7, 2009   under: Gallery, charade   114 words

So yesterday I re uploaded movie screencaptures of Audrey’s 1963 movie, Charade. I loved this movie. Audrey looked fantastic through out; the plot was great and I especially adored the humor. It seemed so subtle.

Sabrina Screencaps

May 26, 2009   under: Gallery, sabrina   135 words

So I have no idea what happened to my screencaps of The Children’s Hour. I think my FTP ate them. But luckily I didn’t delete the Sabrina uploads so they’re in the gallery right now. I guess I’ll add The Children’s Hour caps back to the gallery when I do those re-uploads.

Captures

May 25, 2009   under: Gallery, Site News   126 words

So recently I have been replacing some of the older movie screencaptures with newer ones. Since I can’t seem to find my Funny Face DVD, I re-captured Sabrina today. I uploaded them, deleted the old ones and started to upload the newer ones until I made a mistake. I accidentaly put them in the wrong folder. I mistankenly put them into The Children’s Hour folder and had to delete that album. No worries, I already had both of them saved, just a matter of re-uploading. But now they both seem to be gone and I can’t for the life of me figure out why. So sorry for the inconvenience. I’ll be working to get those back into the galler ASAP!

The Nun’s Story

May 23, 2009   under: Gallery, the nuns story   178 words

Yesterday I added 1839 screencaptures from Audrey’s 1959 drama, The Nun’s Story to the gallery. About time I actually did some updating. I’m going to start writing out reviews on the movies that I’ve watched so far. I really liked the movie and I definitely think it’s one of the underrated Audrey movies. I decided to watch the trailer before the movie and man was it spoiler-y!

I actually have a new layout for the site coming up very soon. (Or who knows when. I’m a terrible updater.) It’s very gorgeous and I can’t wait for you to see it.

Updates

April 9, 2009   under: Gallery, Site News   70 words

Words can not even express how sorry I am that there are little to no updates to speak of. Life has been hectic and I apologize. Please keep an eye open for updates in the future, I promise!

If you havent already noticed, there is a new layout up in the gallery. It’s pink (my favorite color) and has a very spring-y feel, don’t you think?
